The sideboard is the story’s protagonist: a vessel of memory, a portal to the protected realm of childhood fantasy, a cenotaph, or a makeshift hut — a fairy-tale self-built structure transported from the world of childhood into the aggressive universe of adulthood, where it sprouts shoots of private eclecticism, home ornamentation, collecting, and Zhek-art. Sobo gallery «Semyonov Art School», Andrey Semyonov 19.03.2026-19.04.2026 Sobo Gallery presents a solo project by Andrey Semyonov — "Semyonov Art School," curated by Alexander Tsikarishvili. The project includes the series "The Last Day of March or the Duck's Gaze," dedicated to the artist's personal study of the urban environment over the last 10 years, as well as other paintings and graphic works assembled into a unified installation that reveals the artist's multi-layered collage method. Sobo gallery "Armor of God", Sergey Kolosov 22.02.2026-08.03.2026 Sobo Gallery presents a solo project by Sergey Kolosov, "Armor of God," in which the artist continues his experimentation with glass, revealing the material's contemporary possibilities. The artist's new series creates a retro-futuristic vision of a strange assemblage of artifacts: part memorial, part sanctuary, part arsenal, part trophy room. The distant resemblance and obvious glitches testify to the scale of damage inflicted on culture and souls. Sobo gallery Bad Script 15.05.2025-29.06.2025 The group project Bad Script is a text, a play without beginning or end, a flawed script pieced together from fragments of a crumbling language on a concrete floor—a manifesto for a new independent exhibition space, voiced without certainty in words. Sobo gallery “ukritiye”. Julia Mortiis 10.07.2025-24.08.2025 ukritie is the first large-scale solo exhibition by Julia Mortiis — a project of looking backward. It began with the discovery of a personal archive of photographs from 2005–2014, a period when the artist, born in Vladivostok, was alternately part of various indie movements and subcultures linked to music and fantasy literature. Characters from this recent past were reimagined, transformed, and deformed — becoming, in essence, fictional. These memory-images the artist has decided to live through once again now, tracing each one with hot wax onto soft fleece blanket fabric to create the core of the project: a series of more than 40 paintings. Additionally, ukrytiye incorporates various found artifacts and attributes that were once necessary for participation in those micro-communities. Sobo gallery [Mamahuhu]. Maresiy Ivashchenko 04.09.2025-12.10.2025 Sobo Gallery presents the first solo project by Maresiy Ivashchenko, [mamahuhu], in which the artist, who consistently works with photography, will showcase his latest series shot in Vladivostok. Recalling Thales' doctrine of water as the primary element of all existence, Henry Miller's wanderings between the sea and the scorched land in The Colossus of Maroussi, the endless drift of rootless Romantic poets, and the notorious myth of the coastal city as the edge of the universe, Maresiy Ivashchenko transposes all of this into the realm of kitsch clichés from contemporary pop culture. Vladivostok, as the setting of the series, emerges as a space inhabited by hermits, poets, spirited retired sailors, exiles, and outlaws — heroes of the romantic myth of searching for meaning and place in the world. Sobo gallery "When I Am Laid In Earth". Alina Brovina 23.10.2025-29.11.2025 Alina Brovina’s exhibition offers a contemporary interpretation of the myth of Dido and Aeneas. The protagonist departs to found Rome—an empire whose history will be carved in marble and cast in bronze. Aeneas’ movement is the gesture of a conqueror, one who imposes control over space. In Alina Brovina’s artistic practice, this represents a masculine, colonial gaze that transforms everything around—lands and bodies alike—into a resource for conquest and exploitation. Sobo gallery “Time Notes”, Pavel Varnavsky 04.12.2025-11.01.2026 Sobo Gallery presents Pavel Varnavsky’s solo project “Time Notes.” Marks, notches, traces—testimonies left by someone, evidence of time’s passage. Or is it rather time that acts, leaving its traces? And who is the subject in this process? An actor, an instrument, or a vanishing observer who has slipped out of the flow of life?
